Hormone Replacement Therapy (H.R.T) Class Action
Introduction
For decades, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has been a widely prescribed treatment for millions of women to reduce the symptoms of menopause. The most popular HRT drugs in Canada are Premarin and Premplus, which are sold by Wyeth Canada Inc.
Women were told that HRT was an effective treatment with limited side effects. However, the results of studies conducted over the past few years now show that prolonged use HRT drugs carries an unreasonable risk of serious health problems. According to Health Canada:
"Combined estrogen and progestin are not recommended for long-term use in post-menopausal women, except in limited circumstances where other therapeutic choices are found inadequate. The risks of breast cancer, blood clots, stroke, coronary heart disease and dementia (in women aged 65 and over) are considered to outweigh the benefits of fracture reduction and the reduced risk of colorectal cancer, when long term use of HRT is considered."
The Canadian Cancer Society states:
"Due to increased cancer risk, women should avoid combination hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for any reason other than to relieve severe menopausal symptoms that have not responded to any other treatment."
If you or anyone close to you are suffering from medical problems caused by Premarin or Premplus complete the 'Do You Qualify' form.
