Hepatitis C Tainted Blood Class Action
Introduction
There are two sets of separate class actions for people who were infected in Canada with Hepatitis C tainted blood. The class action for people infected between January 1, 1986 and July 1, 1990 has been settled. The settlement documents are on our "Settlement Documents" page. If you would like assistance with a claim to the 1986-1990 settlement, please contact us.
The class action for people infected prior to 1986 and after July 1, 1990 is against the Government of Canada, the Province of British Columbia and the Canadian Red Cross Society. A national settlement for $63 million was reached with the Red Cross. A settlement of $6.5 million was reached with the Province for people infected in British Columbia. The settlements are being paid in installments over a 10-year period. The deadline for the first payment was March 31, 2002. It is still possible, however, to register and qualify under this settlement as a late registrant. If you are not registered, protect your rights and contact us immediately.
